Oh what a day! Unfortunately I was unable to attend the first day, Friday, of the NSW Aboriginal Rugby League Knockout Carnival today’s action definitely made up for it! With a 9am start.

Aboriginal KnockoutWommin Bay Road Kingscliff was jam packed with cars from locals and visitors from the north, south, east and west of NSW. It was a great feeling knowing all our brothers and sisters yet again were coming together to celebrate this great sport of rugby league, our culture and the talent that runs through our people.

I was quickly handed my tasks for the day, and this sister girl was run off her feet! Mind you, I didn’t mind – why would I complain about entering the dress sheds to collect name sheets, or asking the gorgeous number ‘such n’ such’ that plays for Waterloo Storm if I can take his photograph – tough job huh!

Throughout the action of the day on field we came across some of our superstar brothers including Anthony ‘the man’ Mundine, Gold Coast Titan Shannon Walker who was dangerous on the field with his team Casino All blacks. Ex south Sydney player Dean Widders made up a deadly looking Narwan Eels in what will be his last knockout, well until he comes back to his homeland sometime around 2012 – good luck in England brother!

The stand out team for me today were Mindaribba who gave Ngaku Warriors a hiding – the Newcastle team had much to play for with a tribute to their brother who recently passed on, Scott Mason. I will be looking out for Mindaribba to cause more damage in tomorrow’s games.

NITV camera crews were hard at it yet again providing all the action needed to make this year’s knockout a most watched program on your favorite channel, 180 through Austar or Foxtel.

Make sure to keep yourself logged on to our website for more updates, scores, draws, live footage and of course, my yarns!

See you tomorrow!
